Dear Friend,

One trip after another; first DC, two days home and then onto California for a vacation. Did you ever feel like you needed a vacation right after your vacation?

The California trip was intended to be a lazy beach vacation but when the ocean beckons, I just can't resist getting out the camera. Fortunately for me, the weather was primarily cloudy, and that's my favorite time to shoot.

Lots of news this month, so I'll keep it brief!

As always, I do hope this email finds you well. I love hearing from you, so please, write!

Cole

New Images From San Clemente, CA

Waiting

(Waiting - San Clemente, CA - 2007)

The California weather was perfect for my kind of photography, overcast! I gravitate towards dark scenes and sunlight intrudes too heavily into my images.

My favorite image from the trip is "Waiting" (above). It's about two surfers waiting for the next set of waves. I like the mood and slight motion of the shot.

I spent a great deal of time on the San Clemente Pier, it seems that I am drawn to piers for some reason, and it was from the pier that three of my images were created.

There are a total of five images from this trip and I invite you to look at them. View Images

Sadly, there are no "tall tales" from this trip, no shark bites, no fighting off rabid motorcycle gangs and disappointingly, the kids didn't get slapped by Tigger at Disneyland!

It was simply a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

La Jolla Cove

(La Jolla Cove - La Jolla, CA)

A friend of mine, Larry Watts, suggested that I combine my images with music and put the resulting video on YouTube.

(For those of you over 40, YouTube is a website where people under 40 upload homemade videos! Click HERE for a HILARIOUS tutorial on using new technology.)

I thought it was a great idea and so Larry created the video and it's now available for viewing. We are getting great comments about the video (my thanks to everyone who helped with that) and I especially thank Larry for the concept and execution!

The objective of the video is to introduce my work to those new people via the Internet and to draw them to my site. It's a test and we will soon see how it goes.

Please watch the video and leave a comment, if you are a registered member of YouTube, would you please rate the video as well?

The hauntingly beautiful music is from "Scent of a Woman" and was composed by Thomas Newman.
