Dear Cole,
I've just returned from Washington DC and have
brought home a few new images. The trip didn't go
exactly how I had planned, but it turned out pretty well
and in the end I wasn't arrested! (read more below)
Tomorrow I'm headed to California and hope to do
some good work there. The beach is always invigorating
and I never tire of seeking that "perfect" image.
And by the time I return from California, my new
28 page booklet will be here, I'm excited!
If
you have been thinking of purchasing one of my prints
"while I am still affordable" as my friends say, please
read below about the price increase coming on 5/1/2007.
I do hope this newsletter finds you well.

New Images From Washington DC...
|
|
(Self-Portrait at 20 Degrees - Washington DC -
2007)
This last week I went to Washington
DC for business and as usual, stayed a couple of
extra days to create some new work. I left
Colorado just as it was warming up and so I didn't
take a coat with me (you see the logic there don't
you, it's warm in Colorado so it
must be warm in DC!).
I'm
sure you can imagine what happened. When I arrived
in DC, it started to snow and it was freezing! I
went out walking on the Mall during a heavy
snowstorm (I was the only one) and came back with
a few new images and a commitment to pack warmer
next time.
It was odd to walk around for
several hours and not see a soul! Funny to be in
one of the most crowded spots in America and yet
be completely alone.
On my walk back to
the hotel I had to stop in the lobby of the FDIC
to warm my hands and was met with a less than warm
reception from a large female security guard:
"Where did you come from? Did you just in
come from outside? What are you doing in here, you
can't be in here...."
In about 30 seconds
I was "escorted" out and told not to return! I do
believe they thought me a homeless person and
perhaps with justification considering how I was
dressed. The image self-portrait was taken during
that outing.
What did I learn from this
adventure? That the people over in the Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation are not very
friendly and that large female security guards can
be quite intimidating!
Needless to say I
will not be going back to the FDIC.

Price Increase and Special Offer
|
|
(Curved Bridge - Harper's Ferry, WV - 2007)
If you've been saying "someday I'm going
to buy a Cole Thompson print" then now might be a
good time to do so as my prices will be going up
on 5/1/2007!
Raising prices is always a
hard thing to do and deciding it is not easy.
There are so many factors including my going into
galleries that don't want me undercutting them on
my own website.
So....effective 5/1/2007
my prices are changing:
- The Signature Series (not numbered) will be
going from $195 to $350 for the matted print.
- The Edition Series (numbered) will go from
$475 to $575 for the matted print.
Starting now and prior to the 5/1/2007
price increase, all Signature or Edition Series
images will include a Giclee Poster of your
choice. Select almost any one of my images and
I'll create a poster for you!
For those of
you who have told me that you are going to be
purchasing a print in the near future, may I
suggest before May 1st?
