Dear Cole,

Have you missed me? I hope so!

My only trip this last month was to Las Vegas and I just wasn't inspired to leave the casino! Actually it was so hot I never did leave the "compound" and so didn't create any new images while there.

But I have been working hard on my art all month. It's actually been quite a tough month and I want to thank everyone who lent me their support and encouragement.

A highlight for me this month was that my image "Wind Surfing" was published in The Sun magazine. This is a picture of my daughter Mason and the family will enjoy seeing her in the magazine.

Thanks everyone and please keep the feedback coming!

Cole

Cole Thompson - Color Photographer?

Gay Houses I guess it had to happen sooner or later, I took a color photograph! (I'm so embarrassed!)

I was driving around old town in Fort Collins and was struck by how brightly painted many of the older homes were. I thought "Wow, those are gay houses."

To those of you who don't get it (the under 30 crowd), two words: Fred Astaire!

You see, not everything "gay" is "gay!"

Oddly enough, I entered this image into a juried show and got in.

View the image and tell me if I ought to stick to B&W!

The Dahlia Project

Mason and Dahlia Last winter I was spending a lot of time in a local greenhouse working on flora images. There was a flower that really caught my attention, one that I had never seen before and that I fell in love with. The Dahlia.

It is a large and striking flower, brilliantly red with a bright white and yellow center. But what's most intriguing about this flower is that it changes its appearance. The bright center grows outward giving it a different look each day.

In black and white it produces a striking image.

If you have never enjoyed a Dahlia, I suggest you purchase one and enjoy it.
